Testing

How do I register for a DSST exam?

First, you should check with an academic advisor at the school you attend to be sure that your credits will be accepted. Then, you may register online by clicking on "Request to take DSST" or you can call the Student Services Department at the Niceville Campus -- 850-729-6922 -- to schedule an appointment (24 hour notice is required). Active duty military may test at the Eglin Center or Hurlburt Center.

Where and when can I take DSST exams?

DSST exams are administered at the Niceville Campus in Building C2, Room 200, as follows: Mondays 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.; Tuesdays 8:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.; Thursdays 1:00 p.m.; Fridays 8:30 a.m. Tests for active duty military are administered at the Eglin Center, Bldg. 251, on Tuesday & Thursday at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and at the Hulburt Center, by appointment only, on Monday and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., & 1:00 p.m. All tests are taken on computer and are 90 minutes in length. Generally, only one (1) exam can be taken per sitting unless prior arrangements are made.


Is there a cost for the DSST exams?

The fee for each DSST exam is $70 plus a $15 administration fee. You should plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the test and proceed to the Business Office in the Administration Building to pay the $15 administration fee. The $70.00 fee must be paid by credit card.  Mastercard, VISA and American Express are accepted and your statement will reflect a charge to Prometric.

Active duty military testing at the Eglin Center or Hurlburt Center will be tested free of charge. If testing is completed at the Niceville campus, there is a $15.00 testing fee.


What do I need to bring to the DSST test?

If you are testing at the Niceville campus, two (2) forms of ID must be presented along with your payment for the test. Acceptable ID’s are Driver’s license, State/Military ID, or Current Passport. Active duty military must present their military ID card. All testing supplies will be provided. Do not bring personal items, such as purses, paper/pencils, books, bookbags, etc. Do not bring food or drinks to the testing room. Cell phones and other electronic devices are NOT allowed in the testing room.

Can I re-take a DSST exam?

A student may not repeat a DSST exam within six months of the testing date. Scores on tests repeated earlier than six months will be cancelled and the test scores forfeited.
