Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Testing: ACT/SAT

Where do I report for testing?
Report to the breezeway area between Buildings C1 and C2 at the Northwest Florida State College Niceville Campus. You will be assigned to a testing room upon arrival. We begin testing as soon as rooms are filled.

What time should I report for testing?
We begin checking students in at 7:45am. You must arrive no later than 8:00am or you will not be allowed to test.

I'm registered for special accommodations due to a learning/physical disability that I have. What do I do?
Please advise the testing personnel when you report for testing that you are registered for special accommodations. Otherwise, you will be directed to go to a regular testing room. Northwest Florida State College only provides special accommodations for extended time testing on the Saturday test dates. If you need to test over a longer period of time than one day, then you should make arrangements to test at your high school.

What if I lost my admission ticket?
As long as your name appears on our admissions roster, then you will still be allowed to test. It’s a good idea to call the Testing Center (729-6922) a couple of days prior to the test to verify that your name is on the roster.

I never received an admission ticket. What should I do?

Prior to the testing date, you should call to verify that you are, in fact, registered for the test. We cannot let you test if your name is not on our roster.

  • ACT – (319) 337-1270
  • SAT – (888)728-4357

What should I bring with me to the test?

You MUST bring a photo ID. You will not be permitted to test without a photo ID. The only exception to this rule are 7th and 8th grade Talent Search participants. Do not bring food or drinks to the test and avoid bringing personal items such as purses and bookbags. Wear appropriate clothing. The testing rooms are frequently chilly, so dress accordingly. Vending machines are available for snacks.

What time does the test end?

ACT testing normally ends between 11:30am and 12:00pm, unless you are taking the writing portion. ACT with Writing ends around 12:30 p.m.

SAT Testing ends at approximately 12:30 p.m.

I missed the registration deadlines. Can I do standby testing?

Standby testing is permitted on a space-available basis. Plan to arrive early (7:30 a.m.) to the testing center and place your name on the standby roster. If space is still available at the start of testing, then you will be permitted to test. You must, however, bring a completed testing registration packet with you. The envelope must be sealed and your name and return address must be printed on the front. This becomes your admission ticket to take the test. You must pay a late fee, as well as a standby fee in order to do standby testing. Payment is by check, money order, or credit card. Enclose payment information in your registration packet.

I had a conflict the day I was scheduled to test. Is there any way I can still test?

Possibly. You may come to the test as a "Date Change".* Plan to arrive early (7:30 a.m.) and place your name on the roster. If space is still available at the start of testing, then you will be admitted. You must bring your admission ticket with you in order to test. You will be billed an additional fee for "Center Change" testing.

*Examinees that miss the June exam will not be eligible to take the exam without re-registering the next school year.
