Allied Health Programs: Dental Assisting

  1. When will the next class be enrolled?

    August of each year is when each class is admitted. The deadline for program applications is June 1st

  2. How many students can be admitted to the program?

    The program can admit up to 24 students

  3. Can a student enroll in a dental assisting program course and not be enrolled in the program?

    No, all dental assisting program courses are filled  based on a selection process and a student must be enrolled in the program to take a program course

  4. What award do program graduates receive upon program completion?

    Graduates receive a Dental Assisting Certificate for the State of Florida including radiology and other expanded functions

  5. Where are dental assisting classes taught?

    The lecture and lab classes are at Northwest Florida State College (Niceville Campus) We have a fully equipped 6 chair clinic, 12 station Dental Materials lab and 2 Radiology chairs as well as a complete mock front office. Clinicals take place at various offices throughout the dental community.

  6. Does the program provide job placement upon completion?

    No, however Dental Assisting is a high demand career field and the employment rate for graduates has consistently been high.

  7. Can I work while completing the program?  

    This is a full-time program requiring a great deal of commitment.It is equivalent to having a full-time job.  Although some students do work part-time while enrolled in the program,it is not advisable to do so  if at all possible.

  8. How long is the program?

    It is a (3) semester curriculum of full-time enrollment for a total of one year.

  9. Is there financial aid available for this program?

    For those who qualify, there are financial aid options available.
