Take control of your education by working and learning at times and places convenient to you through distance learning. Distance classes carry the same course numbers and credits as their traditional counterparts and appear on your transcript just as any other course does; credits earned through distance learning are transferable and are applicable to graduation requirements in the same manner as traditional classes as well. Both general education and elective courses are offered as distance learning. For additional information please contact Learning Technologies at 729-6464 or visit our website at ltech.nwfstatecollege.edu

Before you fall behind in your classes, remember that the college’s Academic Success Center (ASC) delivers the tutoring services you need – and it’s free of charge! The ASC, located in building "E" Room 149 on the Niceville campus, has tutors available for your academic needs in almost any subject. Tutors also are available at the campuses in Fort Walton Beach, Crestview, and DeFuniak Springs. In addition, the ASC tutors use strategies designed to help you better in your own particular learning style. Please call 729-5389 to schedule a face-to-face tutoring session at any of the centers or to schedule an online tutoring session through Eluminate. The tutors and staff are dedicated to helping you achieve your academic goals. Finally, don’t forget to access SmarThinking, the 24/7 online tutoring program at North Florida State College (formerly Okaloosa-Walton College). It can be accessed through Raider Net.

Northwest Florida State College offers the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Emergency Administration and Management. The degree program allows a student to concentrate in one of four areas of specialization -- Fire Science, Homeland Security, Criminal Justice or Emergency Administration. Man-made and natural disasters have increased the need for qualified professionals to work in a variety of local, regional, state and national roles as public safety managers, supervisors and administrators. The NWF State College degree program was specially designed to include vital competencies defined at the national level through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The program provides the necessary educational background for students to advance into the NWF State College Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree program with a major in Public Service Management.
