1990 to 2002
Capital construction and renovations at OWCC from totaled in excess of $84.6 million.

2001
OWCC basketball player Kedrick Brown was the first community college player ever drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft. Brown was picked by the Boston Celtics.

2001
A full-time US Army ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corps) is established in 2001 on the Niceville campus in partnership with the UWF ROTC Corps of Cadets.

2001
An astronomical observatory opened on the Niceville campus and features an 18” automated reflective telescope, complete with a complex digital camera and software to allow the location and recording of events in the sky.

2000
OWCC instructors win teaching accolades including the Florida Association of Community Colleges 2000 Professor of the Year (Dr. David Schjott) and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement for Teaching Florida 2000 Professor the Year (Dr. Jon Bryan).

2000
The college’s permanent art collection is enhanced with the donation of 100 woodblock prints of Salvador Dali art, which depict images from Dante’s Divine Comedy. The limited edition set consists of wood engravings based on original watercolor paintings created by Dali and were printed with the Dali signature in blocks on 98 of the 100 prints.

August 2000
The OWCC Collegiate High School, a charter school that is unique in the state, opened in. The school allows motivated 10th, 11th and 12th grades students the opportunity to complete a standard high school diploma and a 2-year Associate of Arts Degree at the same time through full-time study at OWCC.
