GPA Admission Requirements

Educator Preparation Institute

Students entering the EPI program must:

“Have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for the general education component of undergraduate studies or have completed the requirements for a baccalaureate degree with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale from any college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association as defined by State Board of Education rule or any college or university otherwise approved pursuant to State Board of Education rule.”

If you do not meet this requirement, you may apply for a GPA admission waiver (click to download editable form). Waivers will be reviewed by the College Senior Vice President, the Associate Dean Communications/Social Science, and the Coordinator of Educational Services. You will be notified by letter of the outcome of the waiver review.

Review criteria for EPI admission waiver:

You are currently teaching or working as a classroom aide/assistant.
You graduated 10 or more years ago with a baccalaureate degree
You have a currently valid passing score on one or more FTCE subject area exams.
You have a 3.0 or higher GPA in any graduate level coursework.
You have a 3.0 or higher GPA on at least 9 credits of baccalaureate level coursework taken within the last two years (minimum of nine credits)
You have, once valid, but expired teaching certification from another state.
