GED Orientation
Adult General Education
All students who wish to take the GED Test will be required to obtain a referral form from the Adult Education Department. To obtain a referral form, students must attend an existing GED class or the GED orientation class and pass the Official Practice GED Test. Student Services personnel will not register anyone for the GED Test without the Adult Education Referral Form.
The GED orientation class is a free 2 day-12 hour class. In this class students will take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Students who score above 9th grade on the TABE will remain in the class and take the Official GED Practice Test. Students who score below the 9th grade will be referred to Northwest Florida State College's Adult Basic Education classes. Students who pass the Official GED Practice Test will receive instruction in completing the new answer key format, in writing an essay for the exam and in the use of the scientific calculator for the new GED math test. Students who do not pass the Official GED Practice Test will be referred to existing GED classes for additional preparation for the test.
